Fwd: Doug Flag (Cascadian Flag)

I received this message today in one of the forums I host.

Subject: [Cascadian_Bioregionalism] DOUG FLAG-- IF YOU WANT ONE READ IMMEDIATELY

I just purchased a Doug Flag from a producer in Texas. It wasn't cheap
($120), but they
have the pattern and the exact colors available. So, if you guys have
some extra cash to
throw around and want a high-quality Doug Flag this is probably the
best opportunity
you'll get for some time. Regular price of a 3x5 Flag, like the Doug
Flag, goes for an
average $190-$250. Flags-now.com is going through a bulk order, so
everything is
cheaper, and you'll get your flag by mail in 1-2 weeks.

If you want one call ASAP 1-877-752-5286 and ask for Brandi. They
wanted to have all
orders in by 12pm, but maybe they can squeeze in some new orders-- It's
still 11:00am in
Texas as we speak...

Sincerely,
Collin S. Ferguson

PS: Below is the quote I received from flags-now.com

Mr. Ferguson,

You are in luck today! I wanted to contact you ASAP to let you know
that we are in print and can do your flag at a discount due to a bulk
print we are running today.

We have your colors in and what would normally cost you $190.00 from
our production line, but will be yours $120.00. The best part is that
we can
ship it out today because we can run it with our grouping.

The flag is printed on a very durable polyester that lasts as long as
nylon. It is what you see professional businesses flags on. It is a
single reverse flag which means the mirror image on the back finished
is
like the front.

I do need to have an answer by 12:00 to process you in the line. You
may contact me@ the office 877-752-5286 or via email @
customsales@flags-now.com.

Thank you so much for your inquiry and we look forward to doing
business with you.

Sincerely,

Brandi Cleveland

Our fellow Cascadian Collin (savepac17@yahoo.com) during the winter holidays had a "Doug" or Cascadian flag made. Those are pictures of the Doug I posted in the photo section. If you are interested then contact the Texan company for a copy.

For those wanting a Cascadian local flag company there is smALL FLAGs in Oregon www.smallflags.com/BASE/About%20us.htm

For those wanted a more organic material made either contact small flags and inquire if it is possible for them or the BeeHive Collective ( www.beehivecollective.org/ ) and see if they can help with materials. I would also suggest starting several local flag making workshops (maybe Tryon Life Farm would be willing or one of the FreeSkools).

Who says we ain't movin'... we are movin'! Check it out! WE HAVE A FLAG!

Ok, cool, I had to get that off my chest. Anyway, if any of you would like a
flag too let me know. Remember all, the more of you who say, "YES I WANT A
FLAG TOO" means we can get a bulk rate, which will make future productions
of "THE DOUG" cheaper. A and I found a flag maker in Salem, OR who is
waiting for us to make an order.

it seems strange to me that you would think the Doug fir a good symbol for cascadia.

Doug Fir can be found outside of the bioregion in the rockies, they are recent invaders to the region (since the last ice age) they only dominate in landscapes marked by regrowth after logging.

I would think that the western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla) the signature tree for climax Cascadian forests or the western redcedar (Thuja plicata) the most important tree for the people here.

I know they have only been around since the ice age.... but then life on this planet has only been around since...

In some definitions of Cascadia it is the bioregion up into the western slopes of the Rockies. It is only until the US Amerikan under Polk had partitioned the "Oregon Country" or Chinook Illahee (in Chinook Jargon) and then annexed part of it in section to the USA that the "region" keeps getting limited to Oregon and Washington. Ofcourse the term Cascadia has been around for 100 years refering to different things from a ghost town at the foot of the Cascades to the mountain climbing club to an architectural style (Cascadian) used in the 1930s by the CCC.

    from Collin:

DO YOU WANT A DOUG FLAG???

    WHAT?

    I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!

Anyway, so I have THE DOUG flag quotes!

As it turns out, this guy charges the same amount for 1 3x5 flag as did
    the
company in Texas. However, to make a nylon 3x5 Doug Flag less than
$100.00, we would need 12 of you to want a flag. So far we have six who
    are
wanting flags... come on now, just six more and we can get 12 DOUGs for
$81.60. If we got 25 flags, we could get them for $64.50!

I am thinking about buying a bunch of the small 4"x6" flags. It costs
    $7.25 for
    36 flags.

SO WHAT'S THE WORD PEOPLE? I AM GOING TO ASK FOR AN ORGANIC
FABRIC AS WELL, BUT TO THOSE WHO WANT A DURABLE NYLON FLAG,
    NOW IS THE TIME!!!

    EMAIL ME! @ SAVEPAC17@YAHOO.COM

    We'll make an order happen!
